Why Choose Toko Dogs for Aggressive Dog Training?
Expertise Highlight
We are experts at working with aggressive dogs, having worked with some of the most dangerous dogs in San Diego. Some of our client’s dogs have mauled people or have killed other dogs and animals. In some cases, we were a dog’s last hope because their owner had been told their dog should be euthanized.
Approach
We show clients how to apply a holistic and balanced training strategy to dogs who exhibit aggressive behaviors. Dogs that exhibit these behaviors require a skilled trainer with a clear understanding of animal behavior, combined with the skills and knowledge to implement safe procedures, techniques, and management strategies.
Details of Aggressive Dog Training Programs
What to Expect
All dogs in our Aggressive Dog Training Program are required to go through either basic or advanced obedience training. Your dog will learn to engage and listen to both you and your trainer in controlled environments. After solidifying your dog’s obedience, we will begin working on your dog’s aggression by breaking their behaviors down into manageable pieces. Through consistent, appropriate, and humane use of tools and techniques, your dog’s behavior will become safe, manageable, and predictable at home and in public. As your dog shows understanding of expectations in controlled and semi-controlled settings, we will begin to directly address the behaviors that your dog exhibits. After training, you will have gained the confidence, knowledge, and skills to keep you, your dog, and others safe. Please note: While we can work with any dog, we cannot take on every case. If your dog has growled at or bitten a child under the age of 13 who lives in your home, we will be unable to provide a dog training program.
Duration
Our Aggressive Dog Training Programs typically last 6-10 sessions but can take longer. Your dog’s program includes one year of on-going support which includes weekly group classes, phone, and email support! We are here to ensure that the changes we make together through training are here to stay for the long-term!

Meeting Zach was an absolute game changer for us! Our rescue dog, Gemma, had fear based aggression to dogs (not humans) and obsessive reactions to basketballs, soccer balls, bicycles and skateboards. We had several trainers before Zach. He focused on the whole dog in a kind, patient and passionate way for her overall growth. He is clear with his instructions and explanations of what to do and why to do it and teaches in layers of training with compassion and patience. Zach trains you as well as your dog. We have seen a tremendous change in Gemma. She is less anxious and is a much happier dog.
We are so happy to share that we just introduced her to a new rescue dog, Star, and they are best friends. That would not have been possible without Zach’s training. If you are in need of a trainer who truly cares and produces outstanding results, Zach is the best in the business.

Zach was amazing with our rescued street dog, Charlie. Charlie was cute but could go from sweet to aggressive and biting in a second. Zach started with basic commands and heeling, which got Charlie to start listening to us. When Charlie kept grabbing any plastic bag or remnant of a food wrapper on our walks (probably how he used to feed himself), Zach made an inventive training process using plastic bags to get him to start ignoring them. Over the course of training, Charlie quit trying to bite us and even stopped chasing our cats! Almost from the first time Charlie met him, Zach had Charlie’s full attention and good behavior. Zach was just as great at teaching us how to do the same!
FAQ
Can you guarantee that my dog will never bite or be aggressive again after training?
Any dog, regardless of breed, gender, age, behavioral history, and training can bite. The success of any dog’s training is based upon a number of factors, some of which are out of our control, including the owner’s commitment to consistent training. Consequently, it would be misleading for Toko Dogs to indicate that we can guarantee success. Please note: While we can work with any dog, we cannot take on every case. If your dog has growled at or bitten a child under the age of 13 who lives in your home, we will be unable to provide a dog training program.
Will my dog be able to go to a dog park after training?
We never recommend taking your furry friend to a dog park regardless of their behavioral issues. While the idea of a dog park is great, the reality is that dog parks can be a dangerous melting pot of bad behaviors. Exposing your dog to this environment allows them to learn to replicate these bad behaviors, as well as expose your dog to unsafe and high risk situations. We have met plenty of owners whose dogs have killed or been killed by another dog at a dog park. In our opinion, dog parks are not worth the risk and are not a recommended method of socialization.
